Comic tale in which a vet, who has finally qualified after 12 years of training, sets up shop in a poor neighbourhood of London but comes into conflict with a ruthless rival who only wants to get rich quick. When he discovers that the competition's profiteering includes exporting old horses for slaughter, he sets about undermining the operation.
