Czech gothic horror directed by Juraj Herz. Based on a short story by Aleksandr Grin, the film tells the story of two sisters: sweet-natured and kind Klára (Iva Janzurova) and bitter and hateful Viktoria (also Janzurova). Viktoria, consumed with jealousy, seeks revenge on her more popular sister by gradually poisoning her until she begins to lose grip on her sanity.
