Josef Kemr stars as the eponymous antihero in this Czechoslovakian drama directed by Peter Solan. When triangle-player Barnabás Kos, who is regularly late for rehearsals due to his civic engagements, is promoted to the position of orchestral director, he believes at first that there has been a mistake. However, over time he is corrupted by his newfound power and becomes fanatical in his vision for the orchestra, but his rise inevitably precedes his fall.

The cast also includes Jarmila Kostova and Jan Bzduch.
