Opening in late 1930s London prim and proper Madeleine (Olivia Williams) and free-spirited artist Dinah (Helena Bonham Carter) are attending the funeral of their father. A love triangle begins when Madeline's (Williams) husband, Rickie (Paul Bettany) falls for Dinah (Carter). Ten years later the two sisters meet to sort out their differences.
